LIVE AT THE CAMDEN CLUB PRESENTS: RIDICULOUS
A stonkingly splendid, feel-good night of original, jingly-jangly indie tunes beckons with Ridiculous, live at The Camden Club, London.
After their sell-out night at the Camden Club back in April 2023, Ridiculous return with a new single release and their special brand of feel good indie rock’n’roll. The new single, SMILE, recorded by the band at Abbey Road studios (where else!) and mixed in Hamburg by Michel Van Dyke, will be released on Bandcamp on the 1st of November 2023.
So come on down for another night of frolicking with Jon Moss, Basti Wocker, Peter Noone and Erran Baron Cohen. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry and you’ll cry even more if you can’t get in, so book now and turn up early!
Jon Moss, Erran Baron Cohen, Peter Noone, and Basti Wocker are Ridiculous. A stonkingly lively little band, who blend their original, melodic brand of feel-good indie-rock with flowery harmonies and gloriously naive guitar and trumpet solos.
After early outings with The Clash, The Damned and Adam & The Ants, drummer Jon Moss is of course best known as co-founder of Culture Club. He also played in Basti Wocker’s previous bandYeah in the late 1990s before forming Ridiculous with Pete and Erran in 2018. Needless to say, it was Jon who came up with the name.
Erran Baron Cohen is of course best known for his work in the film industry. Composer of the film scores to Borat, Ali G, The Infidel and various mega film and TV hits, Erran’s whirlwind keys and trumpet solos are the cherry on the top of the Ridiculous Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte. Oh, and he’s written for Elton John, Bono, Sting, Snoop Dog and the ‘Austrian Jesus’ himself, Brüno.
World renowned bassist, singer and composer Peter Noone, former bassist of The Cross, has collaborated with, among others, Roger Taylor of Queen, Roger Daltrey of The Who, The BBC Concert Orchestra (feat. Eddie Jordan) and Americana singer-songwriter Peter Bruntnell.
Lead singer and writer of most of the tunes, Basti Wocker cut his teeth on a European tour of the rock musical Hair. He later formed award winning London-Hamburg indie circuit with his band Yeah, appearing on various TV shows in the UK and Germany. Basti’s vocals feature on the soundtracks of several movies including Forget Me Not (as the singing voice of actor Tobias Menzies) and German comedy hit Pornorama (with Tom Schilling).
Support Act: The gig will be opened up by singer-songwriter Steve Markwick who has previously collaborated with Ray Davis of The Kinks, Noel Gallagher of Oasis and Shakin’ Stevens. His light hearted and jovial lyrics will set the perfect tone for what will no doubt prove to be another ridiculously fun evening.
Ticket: £10.00 at the door; £11.55 on Eventbrite, Doors open at 7:00pm, performance is from 8:30pm-10:00pm
